Stuart Albertson & Matthew Schmalz won the gold medal in the 2018 Skills Canada BC Landscape Gardening Competition and will represent British Columbia at the 2018 Skills Canada National Landscape Gardening Competition in Edmonton, AB June 4th – 5th.

Stuart Albertson is a Landscape Diploma student, studying at KPU School of Horticulture. Stuart competed in and won gold at last year’s provincial Skills Canada BC competition and went on to represent BC at the 2017 National competition in Winnipeg, MB. When Stuart is not in school and preparing for competition you can find him working at Grow & Gather (Trice Farms Ltd.).
Matthew Schmalz is a ITA Youth In Trades Student from the Langley School District. Matthew Has been participating in the Youth Train in Trades program available to all British Columbia secondary school students which, give students a head start in training for a career in trades. Youth TRAIN in Trades students receive; elective credits towards secondary school graduation, post-secondary credits, and Industry Training Authority (ITA) technical trades apprenticeship training. Matthew went to KPU School of Horticulture to receive his first level of technical training for the Red Seal Landscape Horticulture Apprenticeship.
